| Welcome to the street!!! Who do we have the pleasure of dissecting today? Me, Zombina. Who completes the band? Doc Horror on guitar, Jonny Tokyo On Keys, Jettison Dervish on bass and Ben Digo hitting the drums. What would you say are the main influences to your sound? Originally the main influences were 50s and 60s groups and solo singers, such as Buddy Holly and the crickets, Roy Orbison, the Everly Brothers, the Shangri-La’s and the Beach Boys, as well as punkier stuff like The Misfits, Siouxie and the Banshees and the Damned, and the B52s. Since, we’ve got a lot of weird back-to-front influences that we started listening to after being compared to them! How has your sound changed since the 'taste the blood of...' era? It’s certainly matured! We wrote and recorded that album when we were still kids at school. Since then we’ve put a lot more variation into our songs, written about wider themes, and improved as musicians. Being a big fan of your music, i have noticed that artwork plays a big part in the ZATS experience, who are your favourite artists? My favourite artists are some of the classics like Dali, Lichtenstein, Escher, Warhol, and Gilbert and George. I also fnd a lot of new artists online, via art blogs. Theres too many to mention, but a guy called John Vermilyea is a favourite at the moment. I know that many of the bands members are involved in other projects, could you tell us more? I’ve DJ’ed lots over the years and all the boys play with other bands, check out these myspaces: /apatt, /lovecraftrock. Doc Horror’s done some solo live appearances as well. What does the future hold for ZATS? Great things hopefully! We are still just touring and writing and recording. We have no plans to stop doing that, we just wanna magnify it. So keep spreading the good word of ZATS! Do you have any pre/post gig rituals and what is your most memorable performance? Well we were given our own private sauna backstage at a festival in Finland, which we used right before the show, Jettison lasted the longest at a grand 25 minutes! We wouldn’t mind that becoming a regular feature! Which ZATS songs are your personal favourites? Nobody Likes You is hard to beat, but we've recorded plenty more killer songs since then! Personal favourites are Red Planet, Springheeled Jack, I Love Rock N' Roll, Counting On Your Suicide, At The Megaplex, Villain, End Of The World, and the whole of the next album! Raised In Hell is a sneak preview song on our Myspace page (www.myspace.com/zombinaandtheskeletones). Finally, Karloff, Lugosi or Price? That's very hard! It was always Lugosi for me when I was a teenage Goth, but then Vincent Price is so funny, plus we have a song about him on our next album, so I guess I will have to go with him! Sorry Bela!
