| Welcome to the street!!! Tell us a little about yourself and what you do. Hey, well I'm a one woman operation, I own and run Lipstattoo designs, which mainly works in the psychobilly, horrorpunk genres. I paint and customise bags and jackets, and also make and paint my own Jewellery and accessories. I also take custom order for whatever peoples warped minds can come up with.=) Where did the interesting name of your company come from? Well I am a absolutly huge fan of the Rocky horror show, and the film the Lips being the main image from the posters and dv... I got a tattoo when I was 17 of said lips and it just stuck, I used it as my handle on chat rooms etc, so I decided just to take it with me into my design world! Why did you start Lipstattoo Designs? I have been in MANY jobs which I never liked and never really got the chance to do what I love which is draw and paint. An ex boyfriend who was in a band and a music promoter asked me to design his companys logo, and then the requests for flyer and tattoo designs came rolling in, he then introduced me to myspace and things just naturally progressed. I never made enough money from just flyer and tattoo designs, so I moved on to painting bags.. then onto clothes and ended up painting all manner of items and the demand for such things just went through the roof. What inspires you and your designs? Mainly horror films and the music I like ( psychobilly and horrorpunk), I also tend to sit down pouring over my horror film books and magazines looking for something that jumps out at me .lyrics in a song tend to inspire too. What kind of custom work do you do? I take custom paint designing work on most things, bags, hair accessories, jewellery. I've done a couple of leather jackets too. I do still also take the odd custom job for tattoo designs. I love custom work as it's so varied. Where can we get our hands on your customized goodies? Well of course through me at my myspace www. myspace. com/lipstattoodesigns or through Angie at Alternative boo teek. Also at Shrinking Violet, Bristol, you can just pop in or buy from their online shop www. shrinkingvioletonline. co. uk. I hear you have done some commissions for some big bands, tell us about that. Yeah, thats been amazing. I was sooo excited to be merching for Devilish Presley on their Voodoo Goddess tour, I made some fabby bangles with the titles of some of their songs on, which pretty much sold out half way through the tour and I'm currently making more for their next leg. I also made some necklaces for Heidi Night of the Vooduo and for Miss T the lead singer of The Graveyard babies. I will be merching for someone else, but I have to keep that underwraps for now .hehe! As a talented DIYer who else would you recommend to us as another talent? Well I think Dirty Martini ( http://www. myspace. com/dirtymartiniclothing) is amazing I wear one of her tops pretty much everyday, I have about 40 really cool horror and band inspired tops.. I also love Deadamour hand made bags (http://www. myspace. com/deadamorehandbags) you can't get any better than this gal for well made and gorerific bags. Where is your favorite place to shop? Ebay, or should that be evil bay? I tend to find all manner of weird and wonderful gear on there, but I also shop at The Blue bannana, November fire and Eric pigors of Toxic toons fame is a firm favorite. Where did your flare for art come from? Well art was pretty much the only thing ( other than English ) that I was good at and enjoyed. I had very supportive and encouraging art teachers at both my schools too ( and then into college), I think that helps. I was also my way of relaxing and using my free time when I was younger so I got alot of practice in ! Does music influence your designs and customs and how? Yeah I would say it does, I mean most people who want music based custom work tend to only want the band name or logo, but for me when I'm painting something just for myself I tend to get carried away. I think I was listening to a cd I got from Eric Pigors when I painted my Deviant Dead vanity case, and that cd had The Ghastly ones, Cult of the psychic featus, The Misfits on it... I think it shows lol What are your personal favorite bands? Well I currently love Tombstone Brawlers, Devilish Presely, Scum of the Earth. But in a always have and always will kinda way, it's gotta be Rob/white zombie, Wednesday 13, The Misfits and NIN. ell us about the best gig you’ve ever been to? Arrgghhhhh soooooo many lol, Well just been to Ministry on the CU LAtour, which was just mind blowing, it's a shame they are quitting, and also The Misfits ( well newfits lol) but it was an amazing atmosphere in The camden underworld and it was the first gig with my other half. Trashlight vision were fucking amazing everytime I saw them.. R.I.P lol If you could be any horror character or actor, who would it be and why? Hmmm well probably not either but a director, but he did act a bit *ahem* Edward D. Wood Jr. He was just so full of enthusiasm and passion for what he did and belived in. And he wore womens clothing, so I can't go wrong haha. Favorite Song? I REALLY love Tombstone Brawlers cover of Number of the beast. Favorite Art Supply? Pad and a black biro, it's where everything starts. Desert island situation – what could you not live without? My other half awwwwww lol Is there anyone who has helped you on your journey to being the successful DIYer that you are? Well all the return customers that I have are just amazing and supportive and I couldn't carry on doing what I do without them. Also Angie @ Alt boo teek and Anneli @ Dirty martini, they are my gals and have got my back and have always been supportive. Oh and of couuuuuuuuurse Scarewaves you flipping stars you =) What does the rest of the year hold for yourself and Lipstattoo Designs? I'm going to have stalls at a few craft fairs and festivals, being the merch minx for Devilish Presley, working with The Goth liberation front ( in regards to the S.O.P.H.I.E fund) lots of gigs and LOADS of new designs! Any last words? Just thank for all the support Scarewaves and your fans have given me over the last year or so, means alot to know there are so many people who like my stuff.
